Complete the Human Sex Trafficking Awareness Pre-Test prior to the offered training.
Course Rationale
This comprehensive training is designed to educate healthcare professionals, social workers and service providers on the factors that place domestic children, youth, young women and others vulnerable populations at risk for sex trafficking as well as how to implement treatment and care without stigmatizing or victimizing a survivor. Our team of experts will train healthcare professionals on a myriad of topics including: social determinants of health, infectious disease, medical treatment and care, healing and survivorship, and social justices.
Course Goals
This training will present a comprehensive overview of the complex and systemic promotion of sex trafficking and barriers to sustainable treatment and care. The goal of this training is to raise the awareness of healthcare professionals, social workers and service providers on the issue of domestic child sex trafficking and empower them to address the whole person; including their physical and mental health, spiritual wellness and the social context of the victims- survivors.
Course Objectives
Describe the definitions and stages of domestic child sex trafficking and exploitation
Describe the warning signs of domestic child sex trafficking and exploitation and how to identify a potential victim
Identify the domestic social determinants of domestic child sex trafficking and exploitation
Describe domestic child sex trafficking and exploitation as a public health issue
Describe the physical and mental health consequences of domestic child sex trafficking and exploitation
Describe the principles of physical and mental healthcare and spiritual wellness for survivors of domestic child sex trafficking and exploitation
Identify the barriers to adequate physical, mental and spiritual health care for survivors of domestic child sex trafficking and exploitation
Describe the stages of healing and the transition from victim to survivor and from striver to thriver of domestic child sex trafficking and exploitation
Describe opportunities for community and faith-based organizations to inform social justice and advocacy for survivors of domestic child sex trafficking and exploitation
